4 months since my last post…
Damn, looking at my page, the last time I posted was four months ago and that was to show people my latest Otep tattoo. I guess this is as good of a time as any to post something new. Well, since that time, no I haven’t gotten a new Otep tattoo. So I’m still at 27 Otep related tattoos, but from the time of my last post and now, Otep has been on tour and I did go see more live Otep rituals. This was a quick tour being only 11 shows since Otep wasn’t the headliner and because of how quickly it went, I wasn’t able to get enough money together to go to as many shows as I want to but I was able to go to 2 shows. Those 2 shows being the show in Grand Junction, CO and LA.
Now, I took a bus from NYC to Grand Junction, CO. The total time to get from NYC to Grand Junction was 47 in a half hours. I got to the bus station in Grand Junction at 5:30 am and by 6 am I was at the venue (because the venue was only a couple of blocks from the station.) waiting for the show. Now I’m telling you that the near 2 day bus ride was so worth it. It had been six months since my last Otep show and this show was phenomenal. It was so great to be up there in the front row seeing Otep do her thing. I always lose myself at the show. I can never get enough of an Otep show. From beginning to end, it was in your face adrenaline filled spiritual intercourse that only Otep could provide. It was a blast. After the show I got my copy of her book None Shall Sleep signed and got my photo taken with her. I ended up talking to her bass player Corey and we talked about the upcoming travel to get to LA for the show on May 21st (they had the day off on the 20th) and I had a 17 hour ride to their 14 hour ride and told him the difference between mine and his is he could go right now onto a bus with a bunk and go to sleep while I have to wait up until 6 am to catch my bus. LOL. It was funny having that talk with him because me leaving the state after they do after their show is over is something I am known for.
After that was done I went to the bus station and waited four hours for my bus to arrive for what will be 17 hour bus ride to LA. And it was a ride I didn’t think I would make. The bus driver was half hour behind just leaving Grand Junction, and with him making pit stops and being longer than he is supposed to, we weren’t going to make it to Las Vegas in time where I’m supposed to transfer to get to LA. Luckily someone got a hold of greyhound in Vegas and got them to hold the bus. And the way that bus driver moved, he made up some good time and got to LA only a few minutes later than originally scheduled. Got to my motel at 11 pm, was asleep by 1 and got myself rest for Otep’s hometown show.
Otep’s hometown show… My 6th time seeing her in LA and she didn’t disappoint. The entire band brought their A game for what was their headlining show, and last show on tour for them. The energy was out of this world. You missed out if you weren’t at that show. Otep always brings it when it comes to LA. Eat The Children, Crooked Spoons, Battle Ready, Breed, TRIC, Blood Pigs, Ghostflowers, My Confession, Apex Predator, and Confrontation, the show was magical. And of course after the show I got Otep to sign a poster and got myself another photo with her.
Those 2 shows, my 58th and 59th Otep shows were amazing! I spent 64 in a half hours traveling to get to to these shows and it was so worth it. I would definitely do it again if I have to.
IT WAS AMAZING
